Craft Day

I worked yesterday at the quilt shop and when I came home I had to nap. After that I was wide awake so I worked on a quilt I started when I first began quilting. The first class I took was at Joann's and I was so excited about the quilt that I started a second one, same pattern, different colors before I finished the first one. What a surprise hu? Anyway, that class started a small quilt group that met every week ( for a couple of years) and we were always starting up new projects so this poor quilt got tossed on the UFO pile. I would never pick these fabrics now, but, I just could not get rid of my little pile of cut pieces. I will post a photo once I get a little further.

Craft Day..that was today. My DD#1 had back surgery in October and being a normally very active woman, was going nuts sitting around her apartment. She ordered a craft book on Amazon and started crafting like crazy. We planned a day to get together and make a couple of things from her book. Today we made beauty products, Body lotion, body scrub, and crusty foot balm I( the crusty part is the title in the book not my title). The projects we very quick, easy and pretty cheap. We had fun shopping for supplies a lot of the supplies came from the dollar store) and then working together. I will let you know how our lotions and scrubs work.

Have a good week everyone and happy stitching. Beth

  1. Crusty foot balm? Wow the author needs to rewrite that! hahah! Sounds like you had a nice day with your DD. I hope her back is doing well post op. I can't wait to see your little quilt :) Christine

  2. Sometimes we all need to take a break and do something different. Making body lotions, etc. sounds like a fun day; I certainly could use some about now! *giggle* Like you, I also have a few "old" quilt projects I need to drag out and finish. Maybe someday. ---"Love"

  3. I'd love to see your qult when it's finally done. Isn't it interesting how our fabric picks evolve? The crusty foot balm - is the balm crusty, or is it for (yuck) crusty feet? Like Christine said, perhaps the title needed a little editing before going to print. Sounds like a fun day though. -Joanne

  4. Glad you got to spend some fun time making stuff with your friend. UFO's....they can be haunting sometime's, can't they? Can't wait to see it;)
    Happy Quilting!!

  5. Sounds like you and your daughter had a great time together. Enjoy working on your quilt and post pics when you get it all done. BTW, I like the little candy hearts you posted a picture of on one of your last posts. It is really cute.

I see you live in Arlington Heights, until five years ago I lived in Northbrook,IL. I lived there for 25 years before I moved to Albuquerque, NM. I keep an eye on the weather up there and I don't miss it at all! ! !

    Stay warm!

  6. can't wait to see your finished quilt - some projects are just like that, aren't they? I've got a stack of left behinds when I started something new, but hopefully, I'll get through some of them this year. Boy, I sure hope that foot balm doesn't leave your feet crusty! Sounds like a fun day with your daughter - do let us know how you like your lotions!
(thank you for stopping by my blog!)
