It has been a crazy busy week this week. I worked Tuesday and Wednesday and Saturday. I normally only work 1 day a week, but the boss was on vacation so I had extra hours. On Thursday and Friday I took the raffle quilt from guild to two different shops to display it and sell tickets. It is always fun to see new shops and I had never been to either of them before. Needless to say, I didn't get much sewing done.
I did finally finish this...it is the lovely block that Liri sent me with my APQ swap blocks. I had the purple in my stash and used a bit of it the frame the block. I even had the pillow form in my bin of left over batting. So a little bit of time and it was done. I like it.
Speaking of the APQ block swap, this is where mine is right now. Still need to hand stitch the applique. and I am still pondering the border.
I did sit for a while last week end and quilt this . I have had this project sitting around first as a kit for a year. I think it has been fused for two years and just got moved around the sewing room. It just needs to be bound now and It will finally be finished.
Last on my list is a project you saw a bit of before. The mini Hawaiian shirts. I have been hand quilting both of them. I am happy to report that they are both finished and the bindings are completed on one of them. In the photo the quilting is not quite done yet. Another project off the UFO list.
That's all for now. Happy sewing everyone!
I love your APQ block swap quilt - friends across the miles indeed! and your embroidered pillow is really sweet - the purple is perfect! I've got a few of those UFOs that got lost in the corners, only to appear years later - unfortunately, most of mine end up tossed back into a corner! Good job finishing it off - you are getting started on Christmas earlier!
ReplyDeleteOh Beth! Your APQ swap quilt is fabulous! Love the applique panels. Nice work on the cushion using Liri's gorgeous embroidery. Those mini shirts are as cute as can be! Ann :-)
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the swap blocks! Such creativity in that idea. Your other projects are also wonderful - it's such a nice feeling to finish a UFO instead of burying it again and trying to forget about it.
ReplyDeleteYour projects look so nice! You do good work.
ReplyDeleteLove the APQ quilt! That was a great idea. You got a lot done this month. Tickled to see the pillow. Since I did those little pieces, I've been waiting to see them reappear. So much fun!

What a creative idea for the APQ quilt! I'm sure I won't come up with anything that original. I love your other projects also! The Hawaian shirts are darling! BTW, I plan to be in your vicinity again in early August this year. Maybe we can get together this time.
ReplyDeleteI love love love your swap quilt! How unique. Liri's embroidered block looks great as a pillow, and your other projects look amazing, as well. Great work.

ReplyDeleteWhat a unique setting for your APQ swap blocks! It is beautiful! In fact all the projects in this post are just great! I love you quilting around the little shirts! And who wouldn't love to have Liri's beautiful embroidery on a pretty pillow! ---"Love"
